A BACnet data point represents a single object of a BACnet device, for example an analog value or a binary output. It belongs to the BACnet interface.
Setup
The import function in the main menu (BACnet interface) creates data points. To create one manually, enter the device ID, data type and instance ID of the object in the dialog.
Fields
| Field | Meaning | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Id | Internal number. | Display only. |
| Interface | Associated interface. | Display only. |
| Name | Name of the data point. | |
| Comment | Free text for documentation. | |
| Persistent | Store the value permanently. | |
| Chart | Record the value. | |
| Write/Read | Access mode: read, write or both. | Default is read only. |
| Unit | Unit of the value. | |
| Device ID | BACnet device ID whose object is addressed. | |
| Data type | Object type of the data point in BACnet. | See below. |
| Instance ID | Instance number of the object within the device. | |
| Write priority | Priority set when writing. | Empty: the default priority of the interface applies. |
Data types (object types)
The selection includes Analog Input, Output and Value, Binary Input, Output and Value, Multistate Input, Output and Value, as well as other types such as Integer Value, Positive Integer Value, Character String Value, Date/Time Value, Calendar, Schedule and Trend Log.
The code assigns default units and access modes to the types: Analog and Binary Input are read-only, Output and Value are writable.
Write priority
BACnet has 16 priorities. Values 1 to 16 are available. Some carry an additional label in the code: 1 (Manual-Life Safety), 2 (Automatic-Life Safety), 5 (Critical Equipment Control), 6 (Minimum On/Off), 8 (Manual Operator).
